To connect to the Microsoft download site, you must have a functional Web browser. If Internet Explorer 6 does not work on the computer after you uninstall the later version of Internet Explorer, you cannot download the Internet Explorer installation package. Therefore, you will have to use a computer that has a functional Web browser to download the Internet Explorer installation package. Then, use a shared network drive to install the program from the downloaded installation package on this other computer onto the repaired computer. If you cannot use a shared network for this purpose, copy the Internet Explorer installation package onto a CD on the second computer. Then, use this CD to install Internet Explorer on the first computer. If you need help about how to install, reinstall, or uninstall Windows, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

This question is laughable. It is funny because even with the latest version of Windows, IE does not still make it on my top 5 list of the best web browsers. Now considering that Internet Explorer is now on version 11 you can see why using Windows XP version 8 is not wise. Also since IE is integrated into windows, it means that it has also not been patched since Windows ceased supporting XP. In fact, I recommend that you completely disable IE. That way hackers have no chance of using it as a gateway into your system.
4. You have to ditch Internet Explorer as your browser. Most attacks come via the browser, and experts tell us that older versions of IE are most susceptible. The current IE doesn't work with XP, so download Google's Chrome and use that as your gateway to the Internet.
I'm running the Windows 7 RC and I'm the Windows Virtual PC Beta along with Virtual Windows XP (a separate download). If you have an application that won't run in Windows 7 by default (they're out there) then you have two choices, aside from getting a version that does work.
